Best  Dialogue – ' Star wahi ban sakta hai, jsiki awaaz sunkar dil kahe 'seeti maar'
Genre – Romance

Story- Shagufta Rafique

Music – Mithoon , Jeet Ganguly , Ankit Tiwari

Producer -

Direction Mohit Suri

Budget- 12 crores

Aashiqui  was one of the highest grossing films of 1990 mainly due to its music and hit songs such as  "Dheere Dheere Se", " Main Duniya Bhula dounga", "Bas Ek Sanam Chahiye", "Nazar ke saamne" and "Tu Meri Zindagi Hai" .

Aashiqui 2 starts with a big audience cheering for their star, who stumbles to the stage in a drunken stupor and sings ' Sun raha hai na tu ' . The scene reminds us of  Rockstar , but this is where the similarity ends.
Imtiaz Ali gave us an intense story of a simple guy who pays the heavy price of heart break and becomes an international Rockstar . In this film we have a former superstar who has destroyed his career because of his addiction to alcohol. He meets a girl who he thinks has great potential to become a singer and the love story starts.
The film has some intense scenes but there are so many loopholes in the script that the viewers are left to imagine the story behind the hero's dependence on alcohol , or how he became a superstar , why he can't sing again when he gives excellent training to the budding singer ,why his loving father never cares enough to come to his rescue and didn't the hero ever hear about rehabilitation centers and Alcoholics Anonymous ?

In any romantic film the feelings are mainly expressed through dialogues and facial expressions. Though in many scenes Aditya Roy Kapoor manages to express his love and agony ,Shraddha Kapoor fails miserably in matching up to him. Her porcelain face has the same traumatized expression even during the happiest moments.

There are no memorable dialogues and the only song which remains in our memory is  'Tum Hi Ho' sung by Arijit Singh .
In a line, even if some people like the film because Misery loves company , it is not the kind of love story one wants to watch again and again.
Time Pass .

Review of Commando

Release date – 12th April  2013

One Line which describes the film –  One Man Show

Best  Dialogue –  “Kabhi aadmi lekar nikalta hai to kabhi kutte leke, akele nikla kar, mard hone ka ehsaas ho jayega.”
Genre – Action

Music – Prasad Sasthe

Producer  -
Vipul Shah

Story- Ritesh Shah

Direction Dilip Ghosh

Budget – 20 crores (approximately)

The film released two weeks back along with Nautanki Saala and blaim it on the Vicky Donor effect most of us chose to watch the latter which turned out to be such a fiasco. Last week, after I read negative reviews of Ek Thi Dayan we went to watch it hoping that at least we won't be bored .

The film really took me by surprise . Vidyut Jamwal who outshone John Abraham  in Force was  in his element in this film.

The opening shot shows Captain Karan Vir Dogra of the 9 Para Commandos of the Indian Army in a Chinese army prison. He has been captured on suspicion of being on an espionage mission.

Though the story follows the same old pattern of how the hero manages to save the heroine from the clutches of the villain , he even says a much used line ' Jungle ka kanoon hai, maaro ya mar jao ',
Vidyut Jamwal's confidence and body language while doing the action sequences is what sets the film apart .

Jaideep Ahlawat as the villian with no pupils does manage to give some competition to the hero but when his character reads Santa Banta jokes to the victims before killing them , it's more funny than menacing. I think it's high time that directors should get jokes specially written for their films as how many times can we laugh on the already heard jokes ?

Pooja Chopra who became Miss India in 2009 just manages to give an average performance. Her dressing style is totally out of place for a small town . Her face doesn't express much anguish even in the most tragic situations.
The item song by Nathalia Kaur is totally wasted.

In a line, the film has some great action scenes which are sure to give you an adrenaline rush.

Must watch for action lovers / Good one time watch .

Review of Nautanki Saala

Release date – 12'th April  2013

One Line which describes the film – 'May the force be with you'
(anyone who decides to watch this 130 minutes of less comedy more errors )

Best  Dialogue
 –

Director ki art , producer ke heart par attack karti hai

Genre – Romance / Comedy

Story - Adapted from French film 'Apres Vous (
After You... ,2003)

Music – Falak Shabir , Mikey McCleary ,  Rashid Khan and others

Producer -  Bhushan Kumar , Krishan Kumar , Ramesh Sippy , Roopa de Choudhury

Direction Rohan Sippy

Budget – 15 crores

The film starts with a Chinese proverb that when you save someone's life ,that person's life becomes your responsibility . If only the full film was not based on this thought . For some time it was funny to see to what lengths can a man help another but then it started getting monotonous and boring .

There are some good scenes between the two talented actors like when Kunal asks Khurrana 'Kitna time lagega Chulbul Pandey ban ne main ' but overall the story lacks speed and any twists and turns.
The one life changing  kiss in the film is so creepy that you wish the director had taken 'how to make a smooch look real on screen ' lessons from Emran Hashmi.

There are three female characters but none of them has a well defined role or any strong dialogues.
There are too many songs which further slow down the speed of the film . Abhishek Bachchan in a  cameo hardly left any impact.
The audience does expect more from Rohan Sippy who has given entertaining films like Bluffmaster in the past.

In a line if this was Ayushman's debut film his career would have ended before it even started .

Highly Avoidable.

Review of Chashme Baddoor

Release date – 5'th April 2013

One Line which describes the film –
"Make new films ,but don't touch the old , Because new is silver old is gold "

Best  Dialogue
 – ' If you  can't change the girl , change the girl.'

Genre – Romance / Comedy

Story -
Sai Paranjpye
Sajid - Farhad (dialogues)

Music – Sajid-Wajid

Direction David Dhawan

Budget –  20 crores

The film is a remake  of the 1981 Chasme Buddoor . Though the plot is same the screenplay has been modified to suit the current generation who prefers a loud Honey Singh /Mika song over a soulful Kishore Kumar melody .

Taapse , the pretty girl who lives next door and is the center of attention of the three guys  is good. Her carefree attitude and dressing style reminds us of characters played by Kajol and Preity Zinta in their earlier films .Though her repetitive dialogue "Dum hai Boss " is as irritating as the Dollar Club 'Fit hai Boss' ad.

Siddharth as the wanna be actor ,steals the show with his acting and facial expressions. When he dances to the hit song. 'What is mobile number, what is your smile number '  he manages to perfectly copy Govinda's body language .

Divyendu (earlier seen in Pyar Ka Punchnama ) with his perfect comedy timing adds some life to the lame PJ's like Bhari mehfil main maine sher maara, Bhari mehfil main maine sher maara...Aur sherni vidhwa ho gayi. In a scene he even describes  Lillette Dubey as a dhaki hui Mallika Sherawat which is hilarious .

Ali Jafar fails to match Siddharth and Divyendu 's acting skills but makes up with his good looks and cute looks. He is the only character who is closest to the old film.

The 'Chamko' detergent , which played an important part in the original film is added in a scene  which could have been totally edited . There are several songs which randomly appear and slow down the speed of the film.

Chasme Bhaddoor has made 25 crores till now and has been declared a hit . It must be a relief for David Dhawan as his last film Rascals was a big disaster.

In a line ,in keeping in trend with the current times where sugar has been replaced by 'sugar-free' , the 1980's simple and innocent romance has been down graded into a  film full of double meaning already heard jokes and playboy bikini posters .
Time pass  .
