Once upon a time actress Neha Dhupia (during promotion of her film Julie in  2004) said that "Only sex or Shah Rukh Khan sells" . Years later when SRK has lost some of his charms the X factor  still continues to attract audience to the theaters. 

I came to know about this film when the promos were released online in March. The few seconds  promos on TV which said the film is too bold for TV created a lot of curiosity in the minds of youth which was evident when the film remained a topic of discussion on social  networking sites for weeks.

In the film Nikhil’s character tells Paoli , when you go on the path of revenge always dig two graves. After that the film takes you on a fast paced journey from house of prostitution to farm houses , from prison to board room meetings , from dirty politics to annual general meetings .

Paoli Dam as the scorned woman seeking vendetta does complete justice to the role. Her transformation from a confident reporter to a  vulnerable lover to a victim to a  femme fatale was  amazing.

Gulshan Devaiya suits the character of  the anti-hero who wants to succeed at any cost .He plays the  egoistic  businessman’s role ( who stammers in front of his father) with conviction.

Nikhil Dwivedi as Paoli’s friend and silent admirer has nothing much to do.  

The climax was totally unexpected and it just reconfirms the common saying – “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned “

In a line there are Adult films and then there are film made for Adults .

If you loved Sharon Stone  's interrogation scene in  Basic Instinct  (link – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttN8O2boQl8  )   you will like Paoli’s bold attempts too.

Watch it,you will be surprised.

Ferrari ki Sawaari is not just a film . It’s a  roller coaster of emotions. In just 140 minutes you will experience hope, happiness , excitement ,anger and in the end  the same joy which you feel when a loved one’s dreams are fulfilled .

The USP of the film is the bonding between Sharman Joshi and Ritvik Sahore .The choice of the characters is so good that Ritvik actually looks like Sharman’s son. The film takes us into a world of father and son where a  RTO clerk’s only dream is to fulfill his son’s dreams . In the world which runs through cell phones the scene where  Sharman buys a cell phone in the hope of getting a  loan to finance his son’s wish of going to the prestigious training camp at Lords tells about the simplicity of his character.

Boman Irani who plays the role of  Sharman’s father has proved once again that he is a very versatile actor. In the first half  he plays the role of a frustrated old man who has lost his battles, he walks slowly  ,dresses shabbily and keeps sulking. All that changes when he realizes that his grandson is a talented batsman .

There are other characters too, a local corporator and his  soon-to-be-married son ,a desperate housekeeper and his security guard , and  a wedding planner who has  promised the corporator that his son’s baraat will go on 560 horses that is a  Ferari . Paresh Rawal has a small but vital  role as Boman’s childhood  friend who betrayed him to get success .   

The end scene was a bit dramatic when Sharman  appeals on TV to everyone to search for his missing son . But aren’t we all over protective where our children are concerned ?

I read in the film’s wikipedia page that the film’s idea came to  Rajesh Mapuskar’ s mind during the post-production work of Lage Raho Munna Bhai, when for an advertising assignment he went out looking for expensive cars in Mumbai and  he found them all except a Ferrari.   

In a line if you share a bond with your children you must watch this film so that they know even when you are very busy in your day to day life  family is still the first priority .  

Review of Teri Meri Kahani

Teri Meri Kahani  as its  tagline says thrice upon a love story shows the love stories of eternal lovers Shahid and Priyanka in  three eras 1910, 1960 and 2012.

1960 – This is the weakest part of the film. There are some Charlie Chaplin kind of scenes which are a very poor attempt at comedy.

The sets and the visual effects are so bad that not for a second we get the retro feeling. Priyanka smiles so much that we wonder if she is trying to hide something ! The only good thing about this era is the Jabse mere dil ko uff song which reminds us of The legendary Shammi Kapoor.

2012- This part is totally dedicated to Priyanka Chopra. She gets to show off her hot body . Shahid and Priyanka represent the current generation who like to update every small part of their lives on twitter or facebook. Neha Sharma has nothing much to do but gives strong competition to Priyanka in the looks department.

1910 – This era is the best part of the film. Shahid’s performance as a Casanova is so natural that  you feel all the shayaris are his creations. Priyanka with her funny Punjabi accent looks out of place. 

The film is about love but there is no intense scene or great chemistry between Shahid and Priyanka. The story is so simple that we feel as if we are watching a film made for kids. Never for a second we get to feel the love which we experienced while watching Kunal Kohli’s earlier film Hum Tum. The story telling style where one story merges with another has already been shown in Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal so we get a feeling of deja-vu.

Shahid is an excellent actor, dances well, looks good too  but his selection of films is so poor that most of his talents go unnoticed. Priyanka is also a good actress but most of her roles are repetitive   .

In a line the film was a  very time pass kind of film which neither takes you to the highs of first love nor the lows of  rejection.. Can be avoided.
